Learning Outside of the Classroom
Not all our learning takes place inside a classroom; many opportunities happen outside them . Some occasions may involve a journey - to a destination nearby or sometimes far away. Others may mean travelling no further than to the hall or out into our the academy grounds. Wherever we journey, getting out of the classroom can mean more memorable opportunities and experiences. At other times the outside may come to us, and we welcome visitors and guests to share learning and their personal life histories with us.
Such richness and diversity adds to the ambition element our Academy Values and increases learners' opportunities to achieve as they are inspired by experts, environments and real life experiences.
Here are some of our favourite experiences...
Our annual Hilltop Residential Visit...
Although this year was a particularly wet one!
Learning to climb and skateboard during our bi-annual 'Challenge Week' led by 'The Outdoor Education Company'...
Meeting storytellers who ignite our imaginations...
Travelling back in time with expert historians...
Exploring local waterways onboard 'The Boston Belle'...
Safety on school visits
Educational visits are an extension of our learners' classroom experiences and are planned by the school team in line with the Trust's policy. Visit leaders are trained to national standards; events and locations are evaluated and risk assessed to ensure they are appropriate and safe for our pupils.
